3-D Art classes created these beautiful paper folding projects. 6th, 7th and 8th graders learned about radial symmetry and used two different paper folding techniques to make these colorful works of art.

Sixth grade students focused on the element of value for these monochromatic winter landscapes. 6th grade students learned about medieval illuminated manuscripts. Illuminated manuscripts were religious texts that were highly decorated on each page. Many times these pages included large first letters, decorative boarders and elaborate pictures. Students then created the first page of an illuminated manuscript about themselves.
Students learned how abstract artists were influenced by the invention of the camera. When the camera was invented some artists decided they no longer wanted to represent the real world. Instead they focused on non-representational shapes, lines, colors and textures. The 6th graders also learned five different watercolor techniques that they used in their abstract art projects.
Sixth grade is ready for spring. During art class we made these fun and colorful flowers. This is our last clay project for the year. Good thing they came out so awesome! 6th grade students learned about the art movement called op-art. In the late 60's artists began to use line and shape to create optical illusions. We looked at the artwork of Bridget Riley and created these cool illusions of shapes popping out in the style of her artwork.
Students made these great clay sarcophagus's as part of our Egyptian art unit.
