Sixth grade will have readings assignments, writing assignments and quizzes for some lessons. We will experiment with a variety of art mediums such as colored pencil, marker, paint, clay and pastels. Most of our projects this year will also focus on the elements of art.

3D Art
3D art is an elective class open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. During the first ten weeks of class we explore the basics of clay. For the second quarter we create sculptures in plaster. Third quarter we create three-dimensional sculptures from paper and the last ten weeks of class are devoted to more advanced clay techniques. This is an exciting and fun class!
Grading
At the beginning of each project students are given a rubric. I explain the criteria in detail so students understand my expectations. I always place a lot of weight on students effort. Below is the rubric 6th grade students were given for the first project of the year.
